Welcome Newness, Embrace Change

As we begin this new year, it's natural to feel all kinds of emotions and have a variety of thoughts. One of the main things these emotions and thoughts are nested in is the notion of change. Either the desire to make changes, the excitement for potential new things, or the apprehension where change is concerned.

Sometimes when we think of 'something new', we think about something going wrong with a current plan or idea and the urge to wipe the slate clean and start over. But what about rejuvenation? What about giving something a boost/reboot? You know, finding a different way, fresh perspective or renewed motivation for a particular thing before it gets old, tired and most importantly before you get frustrated and give up?

Granted, if the way you're going about your life, health, tasks, business, and relationships is going really well and you're satisfied with the fruits they produce then by all means, stick to it until there comes time for a renewing. But try to be as proactive as possible and not reactive. Meaning, don't wait until something happens to make a change.

Our encouragement is simply this: be open to to hearing if the Lord wants us to go about specific things or areas in our lives differently. He can't take you into your future if you are holding on the ways and mindset of the past, even if those things were working perfectly. Be open to additions and subtractions in accordance with the will of the Lord for our lives. No area of our life is too simple for Him.

His word says in Proverbs 3 vs 5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all of thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding, but in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy path (KJV)

The word of the Lord also reminds us that we should not be caught up in and be molded and shaped by the patterns of this world.

Romans 12 vs 2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

And so whether it be:

  • Work patterns

  • Marriage patterns

  • Diet patterns

  • Workout patterns

  • Relationship patterns

  • Lifestyle/self-care patterns

Welcome newness and embrace change. How do you know when it's time to change? Be sensitive to what the voice of the Lord is instructing you to do through prayer and through reading and meditating on His word.
